Setting Up Your New Email Address – A Simple Guide #

What is an email program or app? #

To check your emails, you need to add your new email address to an app or program on your device – such as Apple Mail, Outlook, or Gmail. These programs act like a window into your inbox, allowing you to send and receive messages stored on the mail server.

Think of your email address like a letterbox, and the app as the postman delivering the mail to your screen. Without connecting it to an app, you won’t be able to access your emails.

You’ll receive two emails from me when your new address is set up: #

1. Configuration Email
   This includes all the technical information you need to add your email address to your devices, such as:

• Incoming and outgoing mail server settings
• Port numbers
• Encryption type (SSL)
• Your full email address

2. Password Email
   This contains a secure link to set your password.
   Please note: the link will expire, so set your password as soon as you receive the email.

Important Notes #

• Your account type is IMAP – this keeps your emails synchronised across all your devices.
• When setting up your account, you may need to choose “Other” or “Manual Setup” to enter your settings manually.

iPhone or iPad Setup #

To set up your email manually:

1. Open the Settings app
2. Go to Mail > Accounts > Add Account
3. Tap Other
4. Tap Add Mail Account
5. Enter your name, email address, the password you created, and a description (e.g. “Work Email”)
6. Tap Next
7. Enter the Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server settings (from the configuration email)
8. Tap Save

Your email will now appear in the Apple Mail app.

Mac (Apple Computer) Setup #

To manually add your account in the Mail app:

1. Open the Mail app
2. From the menu bar, go to Mail > Add Account
3. Choose Other Mail Account
4. Enter your name, email address, and password
5. If prompted, select IMAP
6. Enter the incoming and outgoing mail server settings from your configuration email
7. Click Sign In

PC (Windows) Setup #

If you’re using Microsoft Outlook:

1. Open Outlook
2. Go to File > Add Account
3. Enter your email address and password
4. If required, enter the mail server settings provided in your configuration email

Android Setup #

We recommend downloading the Outlook app from the Google Play Store:

1. Open the Outlook app
2. Tap Add Account
3. Enter your email address and password
4. If prompted, enter the incoming and outgoing server details manually
